You are a member of organisation which meets regularly at a particular restaurant. The most recent meal you had there was not satisfactory, and you were very disappointed with the quality of the food and the behaviour of the staff· Write a letter to the manager of the restaurant. Explain what was wrong with the meal and the service, and suggest what he/she should do to ensure that you and your group return to the restaurant. You should write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write your own address. Begin your letter as follows: Dear Sir /Madam,

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to express my disappointment with the meal and service received at your restaurant. I was accompanied by my work colleague from Raymond organization on 4th July at about 2 PM. If you may remember, we are regular customers who come once a week to your restaurant in Hawthorn for lunch and meetings.
This
time, we came for a celebration of a team member’s promotion. The meal that was served was a complete letdown. We were 10 people out of which, 5 ordered old-school cheeseburgers with chips and drinks. The other 5 ordered chicken breast with salad for the main course.
Firstly
, the burgers were all cold and 2 of them were meant to be served with no tomatoes, and
secondly
, the chicken breast was undercooked, almost raw. To your records, we did bring
this
up to one of your staff members serving that lunch but she seemed unprofessional and clueless to provide solutions.
Therefore
, I would like to elicit two suggestions: All of the waiting staff should be well-read and informed to a professional approach.
Also
, you may arrange a meeting and discuss the best solutions that could help you and the customers with equal benefits.
Secondly
, You can work around having someone on the pass to check the food and customization before running to tables. Meanwhile, please do let me know if you need any
further
additional information. I hope you will thoroughly consider the solicit suggestions and we hope to be your regulars again. yours sincerely, Sara hamilton.

Structure your letter

A letter needs to be written using a proper format, including the following:

  • A greeting (Dear sir/madam, Dear John, Dear Mr. Smith)
  • The main body (consisting of paragraphs for each part of the letter)
  • A closing (Yours sincerely, Yours faithfully, Best wishes, Kind regards, Love)

When writing a letter as part of the IELTS General Training Writing Task 1, it is important to include the bullet points presented to you in the question.

All three bullet points need to be presented. And remember that some bullet points contain more than one element. So, make sure to watch for ‘and’ and plurals.
