Traditionally, children have begun studying foreign languages at secondary school, but introducing them earlier is recommended by some educationalists.This policy has been adopted by some educational authorities or individual schools, with both positive and negative outcomes.

Schools should concentrate on teaching students the academic subjects that will be useful for their future careers. Subjects such as music and sports are not useful. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is sometimes argued that schools should remove non-academic subjects such as music and sports from (the educational/its) syllabus so that students will focus on academic fields which are helpful for their professions. While it is true that intellectual subjects are important, I do not believe that fully concentrating on teaching academic subjects at school is a good idea. Firstly, from the health point of view, non-academic activities are helpful not only for students’ physical health but also their mental health. For instance, after studying and sitting in compulsory classes for the whole morning, it is better for students to do some outdoor or art activities such as dancing, playing basketball to get rid of stress. As a result, their learning ability and concentration in the afternoon will be improved. It is widely debated whether animals should be used or not for experiments. In the past animal experimentation has brought us a great deal of development and new discoveries against diseases and pathologies. I believe that, without those experiments, we would not have arrived where we are now and therefore, I cannot deny the utility of scarifying animals for medical purposes. If before many students were studying mainly in their own country, nowadays we can witness an increase in the number of students that take the opportunity to study overseas. We can certainly claim to be advantages, but also disadvantages regarding this choice. The first disadvantage of studying abroad is that the language used, it is a foreign one and this might have repercussion during the learning process. In other words, learning new complex topics using a different language from the native one, can make some concepts more difficult to understand and it could lead to fail some exams, slowing down the university career. Another disadvantage is related to the so-called brain drain. It is widely argued that people who own cars have highly increased over the last thirty years with negative consequences such as big traffic jams in many cities around the world.
