IELTS Opinion Writing Samples Band 8
In the contemporary world, business companies can advertise their products on a plethora of platforms like television, billboards, internet websites, radio stations and so on to convince the public to purchase their goods. However, some think that commercials are not that important to pay attention to, to some extent it is right because a lot of them are scams for people. In this, essay I will expatiate both views before stating my opinion.
Owing to globalization, there are numerous up-market fashion in every nook and corner. In most cities, youngsters are more inclined to go shopping as their free-time activity. In my opinion, the younger generation is fond of having fashionable dresses and this is a positive development since it gives happiness to people who are in a hectic lifestyle.
The number of senior citizens in society nowadays is climbing. Some believe it would lead to ramifications in their countries. whereas, others argue that they are of major importance to society. This essay agrees with the latter group, the benefits of having more older people benefit the public greatly.
There is a view that formal examinations are the best method to use in order to appropriately evaluate students’ performances since continuous assessments, such as projects and coursework, are not effective enough. I partly agree with this statement because formal exams can often be better in terms of determining the appropriate score for a student but can also be too stressful which at times impacts the performance of a candidate. Also, some types of continuous assessment do teach specific skills.
Some people hold a particular belief that the mothers who stay at home to take care of their loved ones should be compensated by the government body. Personally, I disagree with this opinion as it can lead to the unnecessary exploitation of funds. It can also give rise to an increased burden on the government.
In this day and age, many people believe that consuming locally grown food has more economic and environmental advantages than eating imported food. While both have their own merits and demerits, I deem that the upsides of domestic food outweigh the drawbacks.
Generally speaking, elevating sugary products' prices has caused an intensive debate over several years. Some people believe that charging a higher price for sweets and beverages could help people maintain a healthy lifestyle. In contrast, others argue that this approach will not significantly impact communities. From my point of view, I strongly agree that raising the price of sugary items could motivate people to reduce their sweet food and drink consumption.
Whilst certain individuals argue that university students should pay attention and invest their time in a specific subject in order to get a qualification, I believe that individuals are free to learn about other categories in addition to their major because it will serve multiple advantages to the following pupil.
The belief of a group of people is that students must follow their interests and just study them or find one, but there exists another group who is standing on another spot and say children must have knowledge about everything and obviously a basic form of them and study them. To be frank I personally have faith in the first society's mind and as far as I am concerned the second group's opinion will not work. I will clarify the whys of my choice due to the reasons which will be discussed in the following paragraphs.
Modern influencers have had a favourable effect on marketing and advertising on social networks, however, in the past being involved in a marketing system necessitated employment within a particular firm. Nowadays juveniles have an opportunity to participate in any kind of online content, which means that advertising has become more accessible for every individual.
Nowadays, students are very interested in earning additional income. Some argue that students who are pursuing their degree should have the additional responsibility of holding jobs whereas others believe that they should concentrate on their studies. In my opinion, I would strongly agree that students should always earn money by working in their leisure time as it would help them to understand the value of money and also it helps them with additional expenses.
It is believed that people with huge ambitions may be harmful to mankind, however, others claim that such a feature of character is a solution to numerous severe issues that have arisen in our modern world. Personally, I have a controversial point of view on this statement because we never know whether an individual is heart-kind to others or wants to destroy everyone’s lives.
Nowadays it is argued that schools should teach students how to become well-abiding citizens and good employees instead of independent people. This essay agrees with this argument and believes that it will help society function better as well as create a safer environment.
Being in a bad situation has some repercussions for people. Some people opine that it is best to acknowledge a bad situation, while others believe that it is better to attempt and improve a bad situation. I speculate that both views should be taken into account, and making a decision on how to deal with bad situations refers to the types of adverse conditions.
There is an opinion that while the internet allows individuals to be in touch despite the distance increasing number of people tend to avoid socialization. From my perspective, I partially agree with this statement as every person forms their boundaries based on environment and preferences.
These days, artificial intelligence has taken over all aspects of human life and no one can deny its effects on societies. It is suggested that we will witness an increased dependence on intelligent robots in the future. Some argue that robots are a threat to society. I think that dependence on robots certainly will be increased and although artificial intelligence has both pros and cons, its pros outweigh its cons.
A notion has been raised stating that acquiring the ability to play a musical instrument is considered vital for all the young ones and its importance is equivalent to how a child needs to learn to read and write. I disagree with this argument and in this essay, I shall explain why by citing a couple of examples to support the causes including the reason why I believe playing a musical instrument is not as important as reading and writing.
It is considered by some that the teachers ought to be accountable for their students in terms of discipline, whereas others oppose this idea and think that it is the responsibility of their parents.In my opinion, both parents and teachers are influencers in altering children’s behaviour.
Nowadays, people are interested in surgeries not only that will benefit them for survival but also for maintaining beauty throughout life. Some argue that this should not be encouraged, In my opinion, I strongly believe that availing medical procedures for cosmetic purposes has a valuable meaning in an individual's life to boost their self-confidence and it encourages the medical field for innovation.
These days women get more opportunities in almost every field whether it is the Industrial sector, Government Sector, Fashion Industry or Business. In many places, seats are reserved for women so that they get equal opportunities as men. Some individuals think that women are made only for doing household chores otherwise it will have an effect on their family life. In this essay, I am going to discuss this and will share my opinion.
