Society today has been brainwashed to believe that beauty must look like models and actors shown in magazines, television and movies. This has caused more and more people to undergo plastic surgeries. While I do not have any reservations with reconstructive surgeries which are performed to improve an abnormal feature due to trauma, birth defects, tumours, and infection, I have serious reservations with cosmetic procedures performed to improve the patient's physical features on the instance of the patient. In this essay, I will discuss why I believe that limits must be set on the extent to which one can obtain cosmetic surgeries, although I am not totally against the procedure.
