Nowadays technology is increasingly being used to monitor what people are saying and doing (for example, through cell phone tracking and security cameras). In many cases, the people being monitored are unaware that this is happening. Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?

In today's world, with the technological progress it is possible to conduct public surveillance sometimes even without people’s knowledge. It is definitely true that not all the effects of this innovation have been positive, although there are certainly some advantages. This essay discusses the merits and drawbacks of this development.

It has been argued that gift giving should not be encouraged, because money is often wasted on things that people do not like or want. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this?

At various events a society has a tradition to give a souvenir; however, time to time inappropriate because useless or people do not need these things. Therefore, majority people think necessarily change this tradition and stop to give a gift, while others have the opposite view. Overall, I partly agree with the topic statement because we have different events and circumstances there people can predict a gift.

Reading books keeps a person’s mind active, whereas watching films and television is passive and does not require a person to use their imagination. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Nowadays, researches have shown that brain activity peaks when someone reads a book and this is not surprising. While readers use their imagination and keep their brain activity, television audiences do not need to imagine any scene and hence their brain remains inactive. This essay, therefore, agrees with the given statement that reading makes the mind active because in an edition the author uses words to describe situations and readers imagine the complete context but television programs explicitly show what they want you to see.

Currently there is a trend towards the use of alternative forms of medicine. However, at best these methods are ineffective, and at worst they may be dangerous. To what extent do you agree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own experience or knowledge. Write at least 250 words.

In recent year, alternative ways of medicines have become an integral part of many elderly people, though a number of enthusiasts argue that these unauthorised options are not scientifically proven and it may lead to a disaster on the way ahead. However, I do not accord with the above mentioned statement that any option instead of medicine can be detrimental to our human bodies and in this essay, I explore my views with pertinent examples.

There is no good or bad news, there is just news to notify viewers around the world what is happening with in depth analysis. Some people believe that publishing bad news has become the new trend and others argue that it depends on the individual’s perspective. In my view, I feel that good news should be delivered to spread awareness.

Many artists are well supported by their governments, but some feel that this is a misuse of taxpayers’ money. Although many artists couldn’t continue to work without this support, I feel that public health care is in more urgent need of the money.

There is a discussion what is the most meaningful, wonderful time in the lifetime. Some people state that adolescence is the best, whereas others consider this must be the adult life despite the greater responsibility. Nevertheless, both sides have their own benefits and drawbacks which seem understandable. Hence, I would discuss both opinions and give my personal idea.

It is evident that medicines and other products are frequently tested on animals before they conform to safety standards for human use. Whilst I consent to the viewpoint that animal testing is morally wrong, I would have to support a limited amount of animal experimentation for the development of medicines.

It is commonly believed by many that the youngsters should have a freedom to choose their gift by themselves due to their awareness of modern electronic gadgets. However, others tend to oppose this idea and consider that giving money to children can provoke them to buy nonessential items. In my opinion, money is essentially a best gift as long as it is used under the strict supervision of parents.

To plant trees in the community is essential and a few people opined that trees should be planted in areas of cities and town that are not occupied. However, others suggest that housing facilities should be constructed rather than the planting of trees. I disagree with this opinion because trees can help regulate the atmosphere while building of houses increases congestion in an environment.

It is considered by some people that criminals should always subject to fixed sanction for certain crimes, while there are others who think that the hidden stories behind the unpleasant acts of the accused people should be taken into consideration before inflicting punishment.

There is no doubt that education serves as a potential source of human development, self-fulfilment and happiness. Some people, if asked, would say that teachers in this modern era are unvalued by society than they were in the past. Others would argue that this question is double-edged due to plenty of factors involved. As far as I am concerned, I would like to side with the former view. In the following discussion, I am going to provide some evidence and examples to justify my point of view.

The survival of our own planet is getting increasingly challenging everyday due to rising disorder in the environment and society. For this, a group of individuals suggests that more funding for research should be extended so that people can end up living on other planets. I disagree with this opinion and therefore, the essay will argue why more fund should be utilized for the betterment of the earth instead of spending on space study.

There is no doubt that, animals are illegally being hunted for food and decorative purposes in many parts of the world, and to protect them from hunters, governments spend huge sums of money. Even though I largely agree that governments should prioritise this money to solve the issues of humans, such as poverty and health care, I believe that the state has the responsibility to protect animal species to a certain extent.

One of the most conspicuous trends in today's world is combustion vehicles. Some people believe that increase in fuel prices can reduce carbon emission from transportation. On the other hand, others argue that it will increase the release of greenhouse gases and it does no good of the environment. As such, there are both merits and demerits for this trend, this essay will explain that increase in fuel prices cannot reduce ecological problems.
