Nowadays, a growing number of people with health problems are trying alternative medicines and treatments instead of visiting their usual doctor.

In contemporary times, the majority are relying on alternative medicine to tackle some health issues rather than taking advice from a doctor. Personally, I tend to believe that leveraging other medical treatments may have a negative impact on the health of the patient, therefore visiting a medical specialist is necessary to recover as quickly as possible.

At present, there is a significant growth of people trying out certain unfamiliar treatments instead of meeting their family doctor for their health issues. In my opinion, this should be viewed as a negative development because the majority of alternatives are not good for health long term and they do not have evidence that cures a health issue.

Amidst the surge of price in medications, some of the citizens in developing countries have failed to gain access to these medicines and resulting in delay in health in some patients. This essay believes that this issue should not be borne by the pharmaceutical industry by lowering their products’ prices because it will compromise the quality of their products and more importantly, it should be the government’s responsibility to ensure the accessibility of healthcare for their citizens.

To solve these problems, governments can either focus on draconian punishments, or improve employment opportunities, invest in good housing projects and tackle drug and alcohol abuse.
