Some people claim that the main function of advertising is to persuade people to buy more than they need; however, I would say this conviction is erroneous because of the misinformation in its premise.
People today are often bombarded with various advertisements on television, in newspapers, and on running buses or subways. Some claim that the main purpose of advertising is to attract the attention of people towards products and services in order to create needs that they might not have. Generally, I think they have oversimplified the situation, though advertising can be misleading.
Advertising has been of paramount importance for industries and companies. It is considered by many that support to a products’ sale is the main subject for commercials irrespective of society’s need. I believe that commercials simply interest in how to improve their profits. Some of them consider customer needs and appeal target audience, though.
Since time immemorial, it has been observed that people are more likely to purchase a new thing when they see an advertisement related to that product. Consequently, there has been a growing body of opinion that the principal purpose of advertising is to sell products that individuals have no need. Being a rational mind, I, however, take issue with this notion, for I am of the view that ads help customers compare existing products of different companies and know about state-of-the-art technologies and goods.
Some argue that the principal objective of adverts is to enhance the sales of goods that people have no need for. This essay completely disagrees with that idea because the primary purpose of ads should be informing its target audience about the assortment of services and trying to lure people into buying needless products is doomed to end up with failure.
