Recycling materials, such as glass, plastic, cartons etc. is an important practice that helps to reduce our impact on the environment. However, some argue that the most effective way to boost recycling rates is for governments to implement legal requirements. In my opinion, legal requirements play a crucial role, however, it is not enough to improve recycling practices. This essay explores the extent to which legislation is needed to encourage greater household recycling, and how public awareness and improved recycling infrastructure are necessary to achieve meaningful progress in recycling practices.
