The plans below demonstrate the layout of the ground level of a museum in 1990 and in 2010. The area nearest the stairs suffered the most striking alteration. Between natural history room and gift shop a lift was installed. The gift shop area expanded, and on the upper-left corner a café zone was built. The statue’s position was moved from the northern part to the floor’s center. At the top-right corner the children’s interactive zone was constructed instead of the half space occupied by the archaeology gallery back in 1990. Instead of another half, a poster display area was build. Local history room has the same positioning in 2010, although its west wall was demolished. A noticeable change is that all area located on the right side of the entrance became an open space. In 2010, the entrance became wider than it was 20 years ago, while the reception counter was separated from museum office. Taken as a whole, the ground floor of the museum went through a series of major alterations.
