My interest topic is about how Roman art is influenced both by conquering Greece and trading with China along the silk road. In 146 BC, Greece was conquered by Rome. By conquering Greece, the country had left significant cultural impact on Rome. The preponderance of Greek art, culture and slaves had influenced Rome from cultural and artistic aspects to daily life. Together, they become as known as the Greco-Roman culture. Also starting from the 1st century BC, Rome began to trade with China along the silk road. Though both powerful countries never came directly into touch, but Roman symbols started to appear on Chinese painting and figures wearing Chinese silk were painted on Roman house walls.
