Learning English is highly emphasized in many countries than local languages. More time and effort are spent by students on mastering English instead of local languages. If nobody learns about the local languages, they are at risk of disappearing. I completely agree that all of us should learn English and local languages should be sustained as well.

English brings people closer with each other. English is served as the commonly used communication channel between people with different backgrounds. Currently, more than two-thirds of the world population treat English as their first or second languages. We use English as a medium of cultural exchange to know more about others’ lifestyles, habits and traditional practises. We share and listen to experiences which broaden our horizon without visiting different places on foot.

Nowadays, young people communicate with friends and family mostly through social networking sites, rather than other ways of communication like talking on the phone or face to face. Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

In the past few years social media websites and apps such as Facebook and Twitter have become hugely popular with the youth. While using these sites has many benefits such as being efficient and enjoyable, they also have a few drawbacks which overall makes this development a bad one. Using apps like Facebook and Twitter are a convenient and fun way to talk with friends and family members. Instead of phoning someone and hoping they aren’t busy, sending messages through these apps can be a better option as the person can receive the notification when they are free and respond in a timely manner. Also, most people are very busy these days so often can’t answer their phone or meet friends for a coffee or face to face chat. In my opinion, satisfaction within companies in evolving cities is becoming a rarity because of the competitive environment at workplace. This means stopping deforestation of the Amazon rainforest with mensurable actions such as overseeing deforested areas, satellite monitoring, sustainable development programs and reforestation.
