These days, the importance of history has become a debatable issue among individuals. While some argue that past has little or nothing to provide to society, others consider that the study of the past is important to improve the present. In this essay, I will discuss both these views as well as why I believe learning history is important to build socially responsible citizens.

According to recent studies, the tendency to commit criminal activities is less common among people who have tertiary educational qualifications. Thus, many people believe that educating criminals during their imprisonment is an effective way to bring down the crime rates. Recently, the popularity of music has grown at an unprecedented rate. However, it can be witnessed that it has immensely impacted our thinking, and it plays an instrumental role in today's societies. I believe that music is consequential because it supports academic development and preserves cultural identity. To embark on, musicology has been integrated into the curriculum, and this is mainly for academic purposes. In other words, if learners listen to songs while learning, they will feel rejuvenated, and this will facilitate their academic progress since this addresses their auditory memory.
