The graph shows the percentages of smoking adults and high school students as a function of time from 1965 to 2020. At first glance, it can be seen, that no data is available for students before 1990. From 1990 to 1995 a 15% rise of high school students that smoke can be observed, in order to have 35% of all students smoking in 1995. But from that year on to 2003 there os a very quick decrease in the percentages of smoking high school students. Compared to these findings, adults have a very high percentage at the start of the study, in 1965. At that time around 43% of the adults in the US are smoking cigarettes. But from the beginning of this survey until the very end of it, there is a slow but steady decrease in adults smoking cigarettes, so that in 2015 there are only around 20% left. From 2005 to 2015 the number and the decrease for adults and high school students is very similar.
