Compared to the traditional family, the household structure and roles are very different in the modern family. In this essay, I will discuss the changes and explain why I hold a positive attitude towards the ongoing trend. There are some distinct changes in the contemporary family. Firstly, the family composition has become more simple than before. The majority of households consist of the nuclear family because people tend to have fewer children, or even no children. It is true that the number of science students are becoming inadequate in different parts of the world nowadays. There are two major factors that contribute to the common disinterest in science subjects. Firstly, those subjects are often challenging and require a lot of intensity as well as a great deal of patience and intelligence. The number of researches that an average Biology student has to do is more than other subjects with a higher level of both difficulty and commitment, which stops many students from choosing science as their majors. Secondly, employment opportunities in this particular field are limited and extremely competitive. The exploration and development of safe alternatives to fossil fuels should be the most important global priority today. To what extent do you agree and disagree?

The use of fossil fuels as a source of energy has been increasing since the industrial revolution began. There is a view that the most important step we can take today is to prioritise research and development into other forms of energy which are safe. In my view, I completely agree that we need to halt extraction of fossil fuels while also investing more heavily in greener energy sources. The first step in curbing the damage caused by fossil fuel use must be to phase out extraction and use. That is, mining, fracking, deep sea drilling and other methods need to be stopped in order to end the damage such activities cause to ecosystems and the atmosphere. Indeed, ending oil drilling alone would greatly reduce the risk of environmental disasters such as the BP spill in the Gulf of Mexico which had a catastrophic and far-reaching impact on marine life, air and water quality.
