Generally, the quality of education in Nigeria is appalling, especially at the tertiary level. The fundamental challenges facing Nigeria's educational sector include inadequate funding, quaint academic curriculum, poor infrastructure, managemental inadequacies, among others. In a bid to force the government to channel adequate resources to this sector, academic and non-academic staff unions of Nigerian universities have frequently embarked on strike actions. To address these challenges, first, the government should provide adequate funds and state-of-the-art research facilities for conducive research, teaching, and learning. The funds should be properly monitored and accounted for to avoid mismanagement. Lecturers’ salaries and welfare scheme should be improved to motivate them and enhance their workflow.
