As the majority of adults spend most of their time at work, being content in their job is a crucial part of their health and happiness. This essay will first discuss how being respected and well paid contribute toward job satisfaction, and then I argue that expecting everyone to be happy with their career is unrealistic because many people’s circumstances force them to work in unfulfilling jobs. One factor that leads to people being satisfied with their job is being treated with respect. If employees feel that their managers appreciate them and the work they do, it gives them a sense of ownership and they enjoy their work more because their contributions matter. A fair salary and benefits are also important considerations. If workers feel they are being underpaid, they will either resent their bosses or look for another job.
