A nation's economic progression paves way for globalisation and the eradication of poverty, but the process takes a huge toll on our environment. In this context, some advocate the need to protect nature by stalling all economic development while there are others who believe that efficient utilization of capital is necessary to abolish impoverishment across the globe. In my opinion, balancing both is essential to sustain the equilibrium of our ecosystems along with the promotion of industrialisation.

Many people argue that we need to think about developing more genetically modified (GM) foods in order to keep up with the needs of an ever-increasing population. Overall, this proposition is a sound one, but it is not without its problems. In this essay I will show how using GM technology to ‘grow’ meat will solve issues of space and cost. I will also discuss the negative impact of losing traditional jobs and food.
