It is true that children do not learn many practical skills at school. However, I completely disagree with the idea that schools should teach skills like bank account management and car maintenance. At present, most schools focus on important academic subjects such as mathematics, science and language. These subjects help young people to gain knowledge and to develop thinking skills that will be vital for their future careers. We live in a knowledge based economy where independent thinking and problem-solving are the most important skills. With timetables already full, schools do not have time to teach children anything else. Furthermore, I do not believe that most practical skills are beneficial enough to be included in lessons. The starting point of my desire of studying abroad is all begin when I was in the 11th grade, my parents arrange a travel to California so as to better educate me about the world. Although it sounds cliché, I still remember the guide tour in the headquarter of Google and the walk of the fame in Hollywood. It amused me and made me constantly thinking about study abroad.

Some people say that universities should only accept students with the highest grades, while others believe that every students, regardless of age and academic ability, should be given equal education opportunities. From my point of view, I strongly believe that everyone should have a chance to pursue higher education.
