Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge and experience.

The question of whether all countries should introduce compulsory military service for young men, and possibly also for women, is a contentious one. While such a system may seem beneficial for national defence and social cohesion, I strongly disagree with the idea of universal conscription because it infringes on individual freedom and often fails to account for the diverse capabilities and aspirations of young people.
