Illiteracy continues to be a concern for many countries in the world today. What are the causes of illiteracy in the modern world, what effects does it have on people concerned and on society as a whole?

Nowadays, illiteracy is continuing around the world as a wide-spread concern. I believe, there are two well-known causes of low literacy, and a number of effects that people suffer as a result of this situation. First of all, one major reason is probably a low economic condition of family. Therefore, the poor parents struggle to afford foods, clothes, and their children’s school needs as well, they tend to put their kids on labour to support the family economically. In additionally, some culture impacts on inability to read or write because local citizens feel that education is not necessary for living. For example, in some agriculture-based society, people believe that if the young generation got the education, it would be useless and they will not cultivate the land. The main cause is probably the quality of schooling because the large class with many students is faced to an availability of teachers. This pattern appears to be countries with high population, with the result that teachers might not provide all basic knowledge to every student. For instance, China is leading with illiteracy in the world due to lack of teachers. Another reason is students who live in underprivileged countries might not have the chance to consistently attend school. These nations invest a vital need than education cost. It is agreed that the main goals of human beings are TO survive and give birth TO their children. Of course, we have other purposes as well, but nature gave us such targets on an instinct level. It was normal that families USED TO LIVED together under one roof because it was better for surviving and looking after offspring and for the elderly as well. However, A new trend in developed countries has been changing IT SINCE the second part of THE twentyS century and usually family separates. Moreover, the popularity of nursing homes is rising, and young generation is looking after their predecessors less THAN it was before. Such tendency has its own perks and quirks which we discuss in the essay.
